Saskia van Gaal works as a translator for the European Commission, dreaming of a life filled with excitement and hot sex. When she bumps into suave, sexy Englishman, Dominic May, and offers to be his tour guide in the beautiful city of Brussels, she doesn't realise she's about to embark on the wildest night of her life.

A stolen necklace is only the beginning of the adventure, and when Dominic and Saskia are threatened by a knife-wielding robber, things threaten to spiral out of control.

Has Saskia misjudged Dominic? Should she trust him? And as their sex games grow hotter and ever more inventive, can she ever guess how this night will end?

• • •

As the doors begin to slide shut, a well-spoken English voice calls out, “Would you hold the lift, please?”

She longs to let whoever’s outside wait for the next car but that would make her no better than the rude Italian downstairs. Saskia stabs at the button and the doors halt in their progress.

“Thank you so much.” A man steps into the elevator. Tall, with eyes the colour of bitter chocolate and brown hair that falls in sleek wings over his temples. His lips are curved in a smile that catapults her back to the heart of her filthy fantasy. Is it her imagination, or does his cologne carry a top note of sandalwood, warm and seductive?

“You’re welcome,” she says.

Their eyes meet again and Saskia fights the urge to turn away from that enquiring gaze. Heat has risen to her cheeks and this metal box suddenly seems entirely too small to contain both of them comfortably. She pictures him pushing her up against the wall, pulling open the top buttons of her blouse so he can rain kisses on the upper curves of her breasts.

With an effort, she remembers her manners. “Which floor do you need?”

“The lobby, please.” He glances at the screen of his phone then screws up his face, as if he’s somehow received a wrong answer. “I say, you don’t happen to know if there’s a decent coffee shop around here, do you? Only I could murder a cappuccino.”

Saskia shakes her head. “Nothing that I’d be able to recommend, I’m afraid. If I need coffee, we have an excellent staff canteen on the premises.” She smiles. “One of the perks of the job.”

“Never mind. I reckon I’ll just go back to my hotel, then.” He shrugs. “Sorry, it’s just that I was scheduled to have a meeting with someone in the budget department here and it’s been postponed ’til tomorrow morning.”

She glances at the ever-changing display, realising they’ve somehow travelled past her floor without her noticing. “Where are you staying?”

“Just off the Grand-Place.”

Her face lights up. “Ah, now I do know a good café there. You have to be careful in that area. There are so many tourist traps it’s easy to spend far more than you should on an indifferent cup of coffee.”

“Well, I don’t know Brussels at all. This is my first trip over here, and I’m on my own. You don’t fancy acting as a guide, do you?”

Tell him you’d love to but you can’t. He might be the hottest man you’ve met in ages, but it’s the middle of the afternoon. You have so much work piled up on your desk, and Celine’s still waiting for the transcription of that meeting…

“Of course. I need to get my bag, though.”

“Sure. I’ll meet you down in the lobby. My name’s Dominic, by the way.”

“Saskia.”

She offers him her hand. He holds it a moment longer than is socially acceptable, but she makes no move to pull away. It feels as though they’ve completed some circuit, pressing one wire to another, and electricity zings through her. Her lips part and she gazes at him, wondering if he’s had the same reaction.

“Okay.” Saskia breaks the contact with some reluctance as the car comes to a halt. “I’d better get out here; go back up to my office.”

Dominic nods. “See you shortly.”

She stands waiting for the next elevator, unable to believe what she’s just agreed to. Her attendance record is exemplary, with hardly a day off sick since she joined the organisation three years ago. Is she really thinking of leaving early for no other reason than that she wants to hang out with suave, sexy Dominic?

You keep saying you want adventure in your life. You can’t run away the first time it presents itself.

Stripped of her title and wealth at a young age, Gwendolyn MacGregor was put into service for the chief of the Chattan Clan. Determined to embrace her new life, she shed her noble expectations and even her religion. As a pagan wise woman, she developed a gift for channelling nature’s energy and became a contented free spirit in every way—until she meets Calum MacIntosh.

Brother of the great MacIntosh chief, Calum MacIntosh believes virtue is the most important gift a husband and wife can bring to a marriage. He is prepared to join his name with another noble lady when the time is right, until his path crosses with the enchanting lady’s maid, Gwendolyn. Despite his efforts to forget her, he is drawn to her as though an invisible tether connects them.

Caught between longing and duty, Gwen and Calum discover a powerful bond that will not be defined by social expectations or status—and will not be denied.

• • •

Gwen turned her head to get a better view of the great James MacIntosh. She’d heard much about his fine features and delicious body. The rumours had not been exaggerated; he was tall and muscular with striking eyes and a sensual mouth.

As he moved forward to take part in the ceremony, another man came into view. With moss-green eyes, crinkled at the edges, he looked as though he had just heard a great jest. His lips curled into a grin, as his gaze followed the MacIntosh. That is, until his gaze locked with hers.

Gwen held her breath.

“That is his brother, in case you are wondering.” The steward, Andrews, stood beside her in the pew. She hadn’t realized he was there.

She spun toward him. “I am not wondering. I am merely observing.”

Andrews chuckled. “Aye. Well, observe away then, but remember he is a nobleman. You are but a servant.”

“I know who I am, Andrews. You do not need to put me on my guard as though I rise above my station.”

“I meant no harm, Gwen. I only wanted to be sure you didn’t harbour false hope.”

She eyed him for sincerity. The man had no business telling her whom she could or could not fancy. “You do realize I can turn you into a toad with a wave of my hand.”

Andrews rolled his eyes and moved to another pew. Be gone, odious man.

During the ceremony, Gwen stole glances at the stranger as often as possible. So the much coveted James MacIntosh had a brother, did he? Well, this was an interesting development.

As much as she hated to admit it, Andrews was right. As a servant, she would not be permitted to socialize with him. Yet, she still could not help glancing his way. Surely there was no harm in that. He was not quite as tall as his brother, and instead of sandy-brown hair, his was a dark, rich brown. He did have the same captivating green eyes, however, and Gwen simply couldn’t turn away from him. Her senses went on high alert when he turned in her direction and returned her curious gaze.

Perhaps it was a trick of the light, but she was certain a glow enveloped him. But that could not be. No, it must be the light.

Gwen kept an eye on her lady for any signs of distress, but at the same time was acutely aware of the distance separating the stranger and herself. For long moments, all sound in the chapel fell away, and only he and she remained. Her mind raced and her pulse quickened. He must be of Druid blood, for she was certain he cast a spell over her, preventing her from breaking eye contact.

Then he smiled. He held her captive with it, for it changed the lines of his face from handsome to outright mesmerizing.

Slowly, her mind returned to the present. With one last grin, he turned back toward the ceremony at the front of the chapel. Gwen also returned her attention there only to find the betrothal ceremony had concluded.

Lady Aileana and the MacIntosh were being directed toward the entrance of the chapel to create a receiving line for their guests. Gwen lost sight of them and was briefly swept along with the other guests until she found herself walking side-by-side with the stranger. Their arms brushed, and she swore the resulting tingle travelled right down to her toes.

“My name is Calum MacIntosh. May I have the pleasure of your name?” His voice was deep and silky smooth, his gaze never faltering.

Gwen watched his mouth move over the words and had a mad urge to trace the outline of his lips with her finger. “I am Gwendolyn McGregor; Lady Aileana’s personal maid.”

He lifted her hand to his lips. His gaze searched hers and he grinned when her cheeks grew warm.

“Excuse me, my lord, but I cannot be in this line.” If he did not stop, she was sure she would drag him into the nearest pew.

This box set contains:

First Draw, #1
Hellhole, Kansas was known to the authorities as the place where lawmen went to die. Newly elected Marshal, Claw Kiley, drew three rapid conclusions about his new town: residents still seethed over the outcome of the War Between the States; a girl working at the Lowdown Saloon would become very important to him; and outlaws held no respect for the Law.

Audition for a Legend, #2
To survive past the one-year life expectancy the Federal men in Topeka had given him, Kiley will need all the help of trusted friends to survive the threat of drifters, gunfighters, and outlaws, all eager to try their hand at bringing the new "Badge" down. If he lives, he will become a legend; if they gun him down, he will fill a grave on Boot Hill – next to those who had come before and failed.

Strange Bedfellows, #3
When a man called Red arrives in Hellhole, Marshal Claw Kiley is immediately suspicious of his wounds and the aura of danger surrounding him. Red is ordered out of town after Dr. Ward tends the wounds. It's Ward who suspects Red is a former plantation owner now on the run from former slaves. Ward faces a moral dilemma over helping Red, as ghosts of his past threaten to reveal themselves.

S. L. Kotar and J. E. Gessler's first writing success was an episode of the television series GUNSMOKE. The episode, "Kitty's Love Affair," guest-starred Richard Kiley as a gunfighter who saves Kitty's life and then becomes romantically involved with her. This was the highest-rated episode in the series' 20-year history. They published an iconoclastic Civil War magazine called "The Kepi" for many years, specializing in new historical perspectives of the battles and leaders as well as presenting detailed articles on life in the 1860's. Their published works include a detailed account of the series starring Darren McGavin, "Riverboat: The Evolution of a Television Series, 1959-1961" and historical non-fiction texts including, "The Steamboat Era: A History of Fulton's Folly on American Rivers, 1807-1860," "Ballooning: A History, 1782-1900," "The Rise of the American Circus, 1716-1899," "Smallpox: A History," and a cardiology textbook, "The Complete Guide to Ambulatory Cardiac Monitoring and Full Disclosure Telemetry." Their book, "Cholera: A History" is due out later in 2013 and they are currently working on "Yellow Fever: A History," due out in 2014. Outside of writing and cardiology, their main interest is baseball; they are close friends with Whitey Herzog, the great Hall of Fame manager, who inspired them to move to St. Louis and they have rooted for the Pittsburgh Pirates for many years.

Mabel Montgomery is a cop who has started working for internal affairs and is assigned to a new partner, Adam Kennedy, who is being investigated. Mabel has loved Hayden her whole life. Sharing families ensured they spent time together when they were young.

Hayden Summerville is a doctor working in Africa, when he returns Mabel and Hayden run into each other again and love blooms.

After Mabel makes a rookie mistake, she has to go into hiding and everyone believes she's dead. When everything comes to a head and Hayden finds out Mabel is alive, after having grieved for her, he decides he can't be with her and goes back to Africa.

Weeks later he realises she is what he wants and comes back to claim her.

• • •

With Alisha’s file in hand, he went to locate the officer waiting for him.

Hayden entered the waiting room and found the tall, blonde officer still looking out the window. Overcome with shyness again, he opened the file and read over it as he approached.

“Hi, I’m Dr. Summ—”The officer cut him off as she turned to face him.

“Hayden?” she asked, her voice filled with surprise and a hint of what sounded like excitement.

As he lifted his gaze from the file, he read her nametag and took in her face, both familiar. Her light hair tucked up at the nape of her long slender neck showed off the angles of her smooth jaw line. Her indigo eyes, large and friendly. Her heart-shaped face held petite features with high, sharp cheekbones and full lips. Remembering her as a child, and how pretty she’d been did little to stop him from being captivated by how beautiful she’d become. An aroma of raspberries surrounded him.

“You don’t remember me, do you?”

He detected a hint of disappointment breaking him from his hypnotic state. “Of course I do, Mabel.” He offered a friendly smile. “I’m surprised to see you. You’ve grown up.”

“I wasn’t that young when you left.” She grinned, filling out her fuller bottom lip.

His heart beat like a jackhammer. “You’ve still changed.”

*

Mabel's eyes took in every feature of the face she’d loved through her entire teenage years. He hadn’t changed at all. His wavy hair brushed his collar like it always did. Warm chocolate eyes surrounded by long, thick lashes. His chiselled face still as she remembered it and the cleft in his chin begged her to run her finger over it.

“You haven’t changed a bit,” she managed to answer. Her surprise at seeing him again left her lost for words. Infatuation resurfaced and heat crept into her cheeks surprising her. Coy wasn’t something she usually experienced. “How long have you been back?”

“A few months. I think the weekend my sisters insisted on having a welcome home party you’d gone away with a friend.”

“Oh…” She'd been away on a training exercise for IA but told her family she'd been away with a friend.

“Maybe they forgot. It doesn’t matter.” He shrugged, and a hint of colour kissed his cheeks. Still shy and reserved.

This pleased Mabel more than she anticipated. “Yes it does! I missed you,” she blurted before she could stop herself.

“You’re being nice,” he mumbled, much to her delight.

A demure smile followed, the smile she’d had a fondness for since the first time she’d seen it, now caused her pulse to race. Mabel composed herself; she’d better do her job first, even though the idea of spending the remainder of the night with him appealed to her.

“Um, perhaps we should go over Alisha’s injuries. Maybe we can catch up another time soon. I’d love to hear about Africa.”

Something in his expression changed and his usual reserve disappeared.

“What are you doing tonight?”

“Um, I’ll probably have dinner at mum’s or something. I usually drop in and get fed somewhere.” Mabel rambled, much to her chagrin. The old teenage crush had surfaced with a vengeance.

“Maybe we could have dinner and catch up.”

Her breath caught and her cheeks flushed again. Did he just ask me on a date? The day she’d dreamed of over and over again could become reality.

Who murdered the Cheyenne State University student? Can deputy sheriff Harlan Erikson solve the case quickly enough to keep his fiancée, impulsive psychic Lottie Baldwin, from snooping on her own?

• • •

Harlan shook his head, but followed Lottie into the underbrush. Though he had no way to explain her psychic powers, he’d seen them verified time and again. When she got a feeling, he’d learned to pay attention.

Lottie gave a strangled cry and stopped abruptly, causing Harlan to collide with her. He grabbed her shoulders to keep them both upright. “What is it?”

She raised a shaking finger and pointed. “There.”

He looked where she indicated. An arm clad in red plaid flannel protruded from a large pile of leaves in a shallow depression in the ground, three feet off the path. “Stand back,” he said, sweeping her behind him with one arm. Then he strode to the body. Though he could tell at a glance that there was no hope–the hand protruding from the sleeve was mottled and swollen–he knelt down and felt the wrist for a pulse. As he feared, there was none. The skin was cold and hard. “Damn.”

“Can I help?” Lottie’s small voice came from behind him. He turned to her. Her face was as white as a wedding gown.

“Sit down,” he said. “Before you fall down.”

She laughed shakily. “No, I’m okay. Really. What can I do?”

He assessed her. She appeared unnerved, her body trembling, but Lottie was no wilting flower. She was tough. She’d been through worse. “Okay. If you really want to…” He waited for her nod. “Go back to the patrol car and call for help. Can you find your way to the car?”

She nodded again. “I think so. Yes, I can.”

“Good. When you get there, push the number three button on the radio, then press the button on the microphone to talk. Tell the dispatcher who you are, that you’re with me, and what we found. They’ll know what to do. Tell them to send the coroner. Then, stay there until they arrive and lead them back here. Got that?”

“Yes. Will you be all right here alone?”

Harlan grimaced. “Whoever did this is long gone. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”

She shivered, then gave him what was no doubt intended as a reassuring smile, though the effect was ghastly. He nodded encouragement. She turned and was soon lost to sight in the heavy undergrowth. With a sigh, Harlan turned his attention back to the crime scene and the unfortunate victim.
